Angela Chan is Associate Professor in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature at Shantou University. She holds a PhD in Linguistics from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. Her main research interests fall within the broad areas of business and professional communication and social interaction. She is particularly interested in how professional practices such as management, leadership and professionalism are accomplished through the use of language. She has researched and published on various topics related to professional and intercultural business communication including face and politeness, professional identity construction, and leadership discourse.
