Lisa teaches courses on intercultural communication, English for general academic purposes and English teaching methodology in the College of Liberal Arts. She also leads the Center for Independent Language Learning (CILL) under the English Language Center.
Her research interests include second language writing, teacher professional development and translanguaging. Her publications can be seen in Assessing Writing, Journal of Second Language Writing, RELC Journal, and Spanish Journal of Applied Linguistics.
