Nuanling Chen earned a BS in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Shantou University (STU) in 2014 an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at the University of South Florida (USF) in 2015.
While at STU, she worked as a research assistant for Prof. Don Snow, assisting him with data collection, data analysis, and English-to-Chinese translation. With Prof. Snow, she also co-authored a paper titled Missionaries and Written Chaoshanese (Published in Global Chinese on 04/14/2015) and co-presented a paper at “The Global Chaoshan Symposium” organized by STU. During her last year at Shantou University, she worked as a student teacher and taught Chinese to international students in the Chinese Language Learning Center.
While at USF, she had a practicum experience in the English Language Program for international students, an experience which allowed her to assist and instruct adult English learners in and out of the class.
Nuanling is fascinated by language teaching and learning. She has taught ELC3 and ELC4 as well as Beginning Chinese to international faculty members. She is presently learning Korean.
